AADHum — the African American Digital and Experimental Humanities Initiative at the University of Maryland College Park — is again excited to develop a small cohort of students interested in learning to create humanities-centered digital media in a robust and upbeat learning community. This program runs 5/16-6/3!

The Summer 2022 Social Media Corps (SMC) program is a short-term fellowship for undergraduate, graduate, and post-doctoral students. This 3-week program includes access to design resources, time to learn and play, practice with actual texts and humanities events, and individual check-in time with SMC instructors and TAs.

The SMC is a fun way to learn by doing, which is an important element of how we work at AADHum. You will learn to produce small-scale media projects, working in community with other people interested in different facets of Black digital humanities. The SMC stipend is $500 and we will send you a $30 snack credit— to keep you fueled over the course of the program!

This is a virtual program, and participants will be expected to attend approximately 6 weekly hours of synchronous and async workshop and lab time. Both will be scheduled after the cohort is selected, as we will try as much as possible to accommodate your standing obligations.

<aside> ✨ Currently enrolled students at two and four-year colleges and universities in the U.S. are eligible to apply. Some preference might be given to students applying from the University of Maryland System or from Maryland regional HBCUs.
